BlinkAI is an AI-based computer vision system developed by Nuna Solutions to assess stunning effectiveness in pigs after CO₂ stunning.
BlinkAI is being developed and validated within the European aWISH (Animal Welfare Indicators at the Slaughterhouse) research project, funded by Horizon Europe.
What is BlinkAI?
BlinkAI analyses short image sequences of the eye area to detect physiological responses related to consciousness after stunning.
The system is designed to operate in real slaughterhouse conditions, addressing challenges such as:
- Variable lighting and reflections
- Animal movement
- Line speed and environmental stress
Our role in aWISH
Within aWISH, Nuna Solutions acts as a technology provider, responsible for:
- AI & computer vision algorithm development
- Industrial deployment and data acquisition
- Iterative optimisation under real production conditions
BlinkAI supports the transition from research to deployable animal welfare technology.
